One Great Thing about having Twins...

I love to dress them the same. They may hate me for it later in life but right now they're just so darn cute!! I might have different colours but I love putting them in the same outfit or cute little onesies with sayings.

New Friends

The girls and I have been lucky enough to meet another twin mommy and a triplet mommy. We joined SPOTTO (Saskatoon Parents of Twins and Triplets Organization)early on in our pregnancy and took a "multiple expectation class" where I met the mommies. When we get together there are 7 babies and 3 moms. It's a lot of fun and it's nice to find other mom's who know what I'm going through and can relate to my daily struggles and who I can learn tips and ideas from. We've gotten together once - because the "A Team" had their needles one time and were sick another time causing us to cancel our playdate. But we look forward to many more and getting to know the families much better.

Aida and that darn tongue!

Aida is constantly sticking her tongue out, while laughing, while crying, while giggling and while eating.

Maybe Football is in their Future?

Baby Exercise Program

These girls are movers and shakers. The music seems to get those legs moving even faster. They love the toys and have started grabbing them but get frustrated at them for some reason. I wonder if they'll be dancers? It's crazy how many calories they must burn. Good thing they like to eat and eat and eat.

Abbey and the Amazing Fist

Self discovery is sooo funny. We just can't help but laugh at her!! She can look at her fist for a long time, talking and smiling at it. She's such a curious little thing!

Bath Time

Rub a dub dub...two girls in the tub. Well, not yet. But one at a time. We started the bathing in their little tub and soon moved on to the big tub where they'd bath with Chris or I. They are now on their own in the tub. Every night as part of their bedtime routine they'll splash around in the tub then lotion, pj's and a bottle. They love the tub and usually get me soaked in the process. Someday I'll be brave enough to put them both in the tub. We've only gotten one "surprise" so far...ha ha.

First Ever Photoshoot...

The girls got a great present for their shower. It was a photo shoot from Canadian Baby Photographers. We arranged for the sitting and when the time came we had some grumpy babies on our hands, which is too bad because they have such bright smiles now. Oh well. There will be plenty of opportunities in the future. Below are some of the better shots...

Very First Swimming Experience

My mom and dad came into town and rented a room at the Sheraton Cavalier. We decided it was a good opportunity to let the girls try swimming since we had a lot of help and we wouldn't have to take them outside in the chilly weather. Plus they'd get to wear their super adorable bathing suits. And they actually liked the pool (it was really warm). We are now contemplating putting them in swimming as early as 6 months old.

First Christmas

The girls celebrated their first Christmas at a very busy pace. On Christmas Eve we had Grandpa and Grandma H, cousin Emily and Uncle Chris over. We had fun little snack food and a few Christmas drinks. We opened presents and had a great time. The girls (and Chris and I) were spoiled as usual.

Christmas morning we had our first holiday as a family - Just Chris, the girls and I. We opened our stockings and presents then we went over to Grandma and Grandpa G's and along with Auntie Kelly we opened our stockings and had Christmas breakfast then opened presents. We got a lot more loot!! We must have been good this year!

Abbey sucking on her "maggie". We were relaxing after Christmas breakfast.

We went home for a bit to relax and let the girls have a nap. Then it was back to the Gibson house for the big family dinner. Almost everyone was there and it was a lot of fun. Their cousin Kaspar was there and the girls enjoyed stealing his toys. Great Grandma Gibson was there too and she held both girls. On Boxing Day Uncle Bobby and Auntie Em flew in from Vancouver. It was the first time they met the girls and I think they instantly fell in love. Uncle Bobby came over every day they were in Saskatoon to spend as much time as he could with Abbey and Aida. The girls were the first babies that Auntie Em has ever held! I think the girls love them just as much too. We look forward to our road trip out to see them in the summer!!

A few family pictures with Chris, Abbey, Aida and myself. Looking back they seem so small!

Uncle Bobby held them as much as he could. He and Em got Chris some mini-helmets for Christmas and they the girl's heads were small enough to fit into them!

First Family Road Trip

In February 2009 we took our first family road trip. We drove to Edmonton to visit the Kurylyk's. The girls were great and slept the entire way there and the way back. We did stop to fuel the van and the kids in both directions though!

We had a great time at Karyn and Brad's house and Brodee and Dakota were such big helpers. Brodee had a hockey tournament so he was pretty busy but Dakota helped bathe the girls every night and fed them too. She's going to be an awesome babysitter!! The girls slept great at a new house and even napped!!

The girls got to meet Mary and Logan. Logan quite liked them too. He and Dakota were able to make Aida giggle!!

We took the girls to West Edmonton Mall and they loved the lights and sounds. They were such good little girls too - not a tear shed. Chris and I even took them to the waterpark (they loved the warm climate but not the chilly water) and to Hooters for lunch. Sadly they didn't have the "Future Hooters Girl" T shirts in stock.

Overall it was a wonderful trip and we can't wait to go back and visit again!

Grandparents are Treasures

Abbey and Aida are so lucky to have such loving grandparents who are so involved in their lives. From pregnancy to birth to the present they have been making sure the girls are doing well. These two have so many pictures taken of them already!!

Grandparents are treasures and you really realize this when you lose one. They help guide your children and are there to offer advice and a helping hand. Grandparents are so special and our girls will be able to learn so much from them. You know you're lucky when they come over to watch the girls and you come home and thank them for their help and they say "oh no, thank YOU! When can we do it again?"

They love Grandma and Grandpa H and Grandpa and Grandpa G and so do we!! Thanks for everything! Words cannot express how grateful we are and how much we love you.

Mom and Dad with me during labour

Grandpa Don loves his grand daughters so much!! He shows everyone their pictures because he is so proud of them!

Grandma Lynne loves her "pumpkins" and can't wait to go shopping with them someday. They'll learn from the best!
Grandma Ali and Grandpa Glen love coming in to visit the girls. Everyday they come they comment on how big the are getting. They love their grand babies so much!

But GREAT grandparents are just that...GREAT!! Great Grandma Gibson (or GGG as she calls herself) is thrilled that she has 2 great grand daughters since she already has 2 boys. She loves when we come over and visit. The love to smile at her!

And Great Grandma K loves the girls so much too. Above is a 4 generation picture. She loves to look and hold them. They are very lucky to have two GREAT grand parents.
